This is a new long cage rear derailleur. It is for 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, and 21 speed bicycles. It is for bicycles that has either 5, 6, or 7 cogs in the freewheel or cassette. It is compatible with index shifters (the kind that clicks into each gear). It also works perfectly well with friction shifters. The long cage is needed if you have 3 front sprockets like those on ATB and Mountain bikes.
